Introduction: Today, we are living in a changing world that champions “change” in whatever we do: “the only constant thing in life is change itself.”

I.       The Explanation of the Immutability of God

A.      Not Communicated to Men:

i.       An incommunicable attribute of God which describes the very essence of God and not transmitted to men.

ii.      WSC: “God is a Spirit, infinite, eternal and unchangeable, in His being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness and truth.”

iii.     Man is made in the image of God – in knowledge (Col 3:10) and in righteousness and holiness (Eph 4:24).

B.      Not Changed with Time:

i.       The antiquity of earth and heaven may even be changed and eventually destroyed but not God (Ps 102:25-27; 2 Pet 3:7).

ii.      People are changed with time because we are limited by time and space but not God because God created and defined time.

II.      The Application of the Immutability of God

A.      God’s Perspective Towards Sin Doesn’t Change

i.       The world today may try to change the name of sin but God does not change the definition of sin or the only treatment for sin – judgment and eternal condemnation (Heb 9:27).

B.      God’s Promise To Save Doesn’t Change

i.       God’s promise to save through our Lord Jesus Christ does not change (Rom 6:23; Jn 1:12; Mal. 3:6; Jas 1:17).

ii.      The promise given to Abraham with God making an oath to underline the surety of the promise (Heb 6:17-18).

C.      God’s Providence To Help Doesn’t Change

i.       The turning point for the psalmist was when he looked away from his trouble and up unto God – pity to praise (Ps 102:12).

ii.      Trust God and commit your life unto Him because Jesus never changes in His love and care for His people (Heb 13:8).
