COMBINED YOUTH CONFERENCE
(Galilee/Vancouver/CBPC)
Date: 4th August 2007
Time: 3 – 9 pm
*********
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
It was truly a blessing to spend a Saturday afternoon with youths
from Calvary B-P Church and Vancouver B-P Church. We enjoyed
ourselves thoroughly and found the messages by Pastor Isaac very
timely — “Challenges & Temptations faced by Youths Today”.
Indeed, we have been encouraged by Pastor Isaac to adopt a Christian
worldview in all we do. To quote Pastor Isaac, we should always
“engage and not hide in this world, be involved and not influenced
by this world”. We thank God for this timely reminder to firm up our
Biblical convictions so that we can be salt and light for God.
Apart from the message, we also benefited much from fellowshipping
with brothers and sisters in Christ. The games helped us to bond and
get to know members of our fellow B-P Churches. Praise God for
blessing us with a time of fun and laughter.
We look forward to more such conferences and collaborations with you
in future.
In God’s love,

The Youth Conference took place at Calvary B-P Church on Saturday, 4th
August. It was hosted by Calvary English-speaking YF, who did a
fantastic job of ensuring that everybody had an enjoyable time. The
focus of the Youth Conference was “Challenges and Temptations Faced
by Youths Today” — a theme that was reinforced through the opening
prayer by Chi Sin as well as the songs chosen by Joyce and Nicholas.
The guest speaker at the Conference was Rev Isaac Ong who elaborated
on how youths today can develop a Christian worldview and build
Biblical convictions. We learnt that as Christians we should let our
hearts be led by God, as the Bible says, “For as he thinketh in
his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7). We also learnt that to be
effective for God, we must exercise our Christian muscles: virtue,
knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness and
charity.
We continued our fellowship with games led by Keng An, Phyllis,
Eunice and Nelly. We had an unbelievable time getting to know each
other and learning about teamwork and trust. The games were followed
by a delicious and abundant buffet dinner lovingly prepared for us
by the aunties. This time of fellowship nourished us both
spiritually and physically. At the close of the Conference, Brendan
led us in the collection of offering which was generously donated to
our missions trip to Batam.
We thank God for the opportunity we had to fellowship with the Youth
Fellowship of Calvary and Galilee Bible-Presbyterian Churches.

On 4th August, youths from Vancouver B-P Church, Galilee
and Calvary gathered for the Combined Youth Conference. The theme
for the conference was “Challenges and Temptations faced by Youths
Today.”
Upon entering the sanctuary, the youths seemed pretty apprehensive
and stuck to their cliques. However, after a suggestion from Chi
Sin, youths of different churches broke away from their groups and
sat with the youths from the other churches.
Rev Isaac Ong started the conference with a message on “Developing a
Christian Worldview.” He shared that God’s Word encompasses every
aspect of our lives, and as Christians, we should consider
everything in life with God’s perspective in mind.
After the message, the youths were separated into different groups.
First, was an ice-breaking game, where the youths had to remember
the names, schools and ages of the other youths. We also played
other games such as Dog and Bone, Freefall, Hunting for Fishy Items
and pictionary-cum-charades. It was evident that the youths were
comfortable and at ease with each other after the session of games,
with the loud chattering echoing through the fellowship hall, over
dinner.
Next, in continuance to the previous message, Rev Isaac Ong followed
up with a message on “Developing Biblical Convictions.” What we know
would ultimately affect our lives; thus, it is important to develop
Biblical convictions. Although developing Biblical convictions
requires the fruit of the Spirit, it is still impossible to do so
without a receptive heart.
The Youth Conference had been an enriching and enjoyable one. I am
sure the youths have brought home valuable messages on how we should
handle the many challenges in life.
