Thailand has a
population of about 65 million, of which 94% are Buddhists and only
0.5% Christians. Our Gospel outreaches to Thailand are concentrated
among the mountain tribes in northern Thailand.
Maepan, Sankula
This is an area situated deep in the mountains of north
Thailand about four hours’ drive from Chiangmai. The people are
mainly from the Lisu and Lahu tribe with some of ethnic Chinese
decent. Although they have their own dialects, many of them
(especially those of Chine decent) understand and read Chinese.

Preacher Xiong Fu Man has resigned since end 2005 and his
duties as a principal preacher has been taken over by Preacher Yang
Jia Wang. Preacher Yang is currently assisted by Preacher Lee Yue Na
(Jonah Lee). Another two students from Bethel Bible Institute
are also helping Preacher Yang with the Ladies’ Fellowship,
Sunday school as well as the Youth fellowship. The Church of Meapoon
is currently registered under that of the Church of Christ Thailand.
Just half an hour’s drive from Meapoon, a gospel outreach
station under the supervision of the Church of Meapoon has been set
up and headed by Preacher Yu Nuo Ya (Noah Yu). In addition, Preacher
Wang and Preacher Lee have been frequently helping out at the Gospel
Outreach station.
Parliang,
Sinchai and Tangwo
Parliang, Sinchai and Tangwo are separate villages in another
mountainous area, about two hours’ drive from Meapoon. These places
are more accessible because the roads are better. However, the
hearts of the people here are difficult to penetrate. Many of them
are either opium smokers or, in some ways, involved in the opium
trade. This is located just at the border of Myanmar and is on one
of the “drug route”
The above three churches are in the care of Preacher Luo Xin
Wen. He is assisted by Mu Chao Xiang, Yan Bu Le and Di Rong Zhong.
The China Evangelistic Mission (CEM) supervises these churches. For
practical reason we have entrusted to the care of the CEM on
physical and spiritual matters while we provide the monetary
support. The Pastor of China Evangelistic
Mission will conduct the
Lord’s Supper as well as deliver the Sunday’s message at these
churches once a month. Preacher Luo also reports to CEM on a monthly
basis.
