Venue: Room
2.1
Day: Every Sunday
Time: 11:30 am to 12.15 noon
Objectives:
1)
Provide the fellowship/witnessing arm for those who can only
understand Hokkien to have fellowship with God.
2)
For believers (converted but unable to understand English
sermons) to grow In the LORD through this fellowship group.
3)
Encourage/Provide the fellowship arm to our church members
to reach-out to their dialects speaking love ones to attend
church with them each Lord’s day.
How
this Fellowship was formed
Shou
Swan's mother (the late Mdm Lim Geok Gee) and sister (Choo
Hiok) accepted the Lord and were baptised in our church on 6
July 2003. They faithfully attended the English Service every
Sunday, accompanied by Shou Swan's family. Wilson Low's
sisters (Nancy Yap/Roseline) also started to attend church in
2003. Nancy accepted the Lord and was baptised the same time.
The
Hokkien Fellowship was formed with just three Hokkien-speaking
members led by Mrs Alice Chan. Supporting members are Shou
Swan, Bee Suat, Pansy, Karen Pang and Wilson. Mrs Chan
(leader) and Mrs Pansy Lai (Assistant) summarized the English
sermon in Hokkien.
A
Romanised Hokkien Bible was read by the leaders, using the MP3
audio Bible reading CD as an alternative resource.
The
Fellowship members will sing songs of Praise in Hokkien
followed by a sharing session among members and short prayer
session using Hokkien. The new believers were taught how to
pray in a simple manner.
To-date,
the Fellowship strength has grown to an average of 12 to 16 in
attendance with new members (Bee Ker's mum, Susan Chan's mum,
Choon Leong's mum, Shirley and Maureen).
Thank
God indeed for this effective ministry to meet the needs of
the Hokkien-speaking members.
